Year 12s still plan to go to uni next year
APPLICATIONS for uni study through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) have opened strongly.
Since opening on Wednesday, UAC has received more than 3,300 applications for undergraduate study, an increase of more than 100 per cent on last year.
This includes more than 2,500 Year 12 students, a 280 per cent increase on the same time last year, showing the confidence they have in pushing forward with their plans for 2021 despite COVID-19.
In addition, non-Year 12 applications for semester 2, 2020 courses have remained stable on last year, a promising sign of resilience in domestic university admissions.
Kim Paino, General Manager of Marketing and Engagement at UAC, says: 'We’re really hoping these numbers are an early indication that Year 12 students are getting on with their studies and are undeterred by the uncertainty around them. That’s tremendous news for those of us working hard in the background to make sure that they can still achieve their goals.’
UAC’s call centre is fully operational, and our friendly customer service team is standing by to take calls on 1300 275 822 Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. Livechat and email through our website are also available.
