Towards a national employability and lifelong learning strategy

The Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) is partnering with the Australian Council of Professionals (ACoP) to host an important event in Canberra tomorrow to explore the need for a national lifelong learning strategy.

The aim is ultimately to create a better education system for a fair and prosperous Australia.

The event will explore educating for the new world of work; how technology is disrupting current education models and business; employee/professional credentialing and the technology platforms and standards supporting credentials.

Key speakers include Professor Stephen Parker AO, National Education Sector Leader, KPMG; Craig Robertson, CEO, TAFE Directors Australia; Sandra Milligan, Director and Enterprise Professor, Assessment Research Centre, University of Melbourne; Peter Strong, CEO, Council of Small Business of Australia and Elizabeth Stone, Principal, Queenwood School for Girls.

Dr David Christie, Managing Director of UAC said, ‘It’s more important than ever for learners to be able to go between work and study and back again. There is also no doubt that to meet the challenges that lay ahead the highly skilled workforce that Australia already enjoys will need rigorous and robust systems, technologies and policy frameworks at a national level. Our hope for this event is that it’s another step forward in making that a reality.”
