ATARs released today

17 Dec 2019

NSW HSC students will today find out their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Students can view their ATAR from 1pm on the My UAC mobile app or on UAC’s website. They’ll need their Year 12 student number (or UAC application number) and UAC PIN to log in.

ATAR FACTS

  • 55,031 students were eligible for an ATAR. This is 1,096 fewer than in 2018.
  • 46 students received the top ATAR of 99.95. Of these students, 16 were female and 30 were male; they came from a mix of government and non-government schools and studied a wide range of courses.
  • 16.8 per cent of students received an ATAR of 90.00 or above, 33.4 per cent received an ATAR of at least 80.00 and 49.6 per cent at least 70.00.
  • The median ATAR was 69.75 this year, slightly higher than in 2018. To achieve a middle ATAR, students generally need to be in the middle of their courses and receive HSC marks between 70 and 80. However, because of the large percentage of students with marks between 70 and 80, the ATARs of students with HSC marks around 80 will often be very different from the ATARs of students with HSC marks around 70.
  • The median ATAR for females was 71.10 whereas the median ATAR for males was 68.05.

Students with questions about their ATAR can call UAC’s ATAR Enquiry Centre on 1300 MY ATAR (1300 692 827), (02) 9119 5012 from mobiles, or +61 2 9119 5012 from overseas on the following days:

  • Tuesday 17 December 2019, 12pm–8pm
  • Wednesday 18 December 2019, 8.30am–4.30pm
  • Thursday 19 December 2019, 8.30am–4.30pm
  • Friday 20 December 2019, 8.30am–4.30pm.

Kim Paino, UAC’s General Manager of Marketing and Engagement, has some words of encouragement for students whose ATAR is not what they’d hoped for: 'Don’t lose heart. This doesn’t mean that every door is closed to you. Some doors may be closed right now but not forever and other opportunities are available to you right now. Just keep an open mind and look at all your options.'
