Most Year 12 students will be assessed, at least partially, based on their ATAR. This year, ATARs will be released on 18 December. The first ATAR-based offers will be released in December Round 2 on 23 December.

December Round 2 and January Round 1 are when most offers will be made to semester 1, 2025 courses. However, institutions will continue to make offers in later rounds to courses that still have vacancies.

The offer rounds before December Round 2 are usually for early offer schemes (such as the Schools Recommendation Scheme), ADFA (Australian Defence Force Academy) courses and some post-school applicants who already have qualifications we can assess.

Yes, you can! You can accept as many offers as you want. When you make your final decision, remember to call the unis to let them know which offers you no longer want to take up.

Yes, you can be considered for entry if you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree.

We recommend that you apply as a Year 12 student so you can make the most of the adjustment factors available and then defer the course. Contact the relevant uni to double check that the course you are interested in can be deferred.

No, it's not first in, best dressed. All applicants are given equal consideration in each offer round. You'll need to meet the selection rank required for entry to receive an offer.

You can only receive one offer in each offer round and unis will consider your course preferences according to the order in which you list them. If you are eligible and competitive enough for your first preference, you will receive an offer; if not, our system will go through your preferences until it finds a course which you are eligible and competitive for.

Our advice is to put your dream course first. Even if your ATAR isn’t what you’re hoping for, it’s a good to leave your first preference in place, because lowest selection ranks change from year to year.

We also advise to research the full range of courses in the field that you’re hoping to study in. Look for courses with lower selection ranks and consider adding them to the bottom of your list of preferences. This way, if you miss out on your dream course, you'll have a good chance of getting an offer to something similar.

• Option 1: Consider studying at a uni that has a lower selection rank for the course you are interested in.
• Option 2: Enrol in a course with a lower selection rank at the uni that has your dream course. If you get the required marks, you may be eligible for an internal transfer after your first year of study.

If you're staying at the same uni, first of all talk to the admissions office about the possibility of an internal transfer. Otherwise, you'll need to submit a new undergraduate application via UAC. You'll be given a new UAC application number and PIN. You can change your preferences as many times as you like after you've submitted your application.

Current Year 12 students need to enter their Year 12 student number and UAC PIN to log in to their application.

Your PIN was emailed to you on 3 April 2024. Check that you're using your UAC PIN and not your NESA PIN.

Year 12 applicants from other states

Your UAC PIN is the first four digits of your date of birth. For example, if your birthday is 3 October, your UAC PIN is 0310; if your birthday is 17 May, your UAC PIN is 1705.
