What to do if you get an SRS offer

If you're in Year 12 and you applied for undergraduate study through the Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS), you may receive an offer in November Round 1 (8 November).

If you don't receive an SRS offer, don't worry: the main offer rounds for Year 12 students are December Round 2 (23 December) and January Round 1 (9 January), after ATARs are released. Your course preferences will be considered again in these offer rounds.

SRS offers can be unconditional or conditional.

Unconditional SRS offers

If you receive an unconditional offer, congratulations! Go ahead and accept it. If you want to stay in the running for another offer in subsequent rounds, move the course you’ve been offered down to the bottom of your list of course preferences or remove it entirely. (As long as you have accepted the offer, you can’t lose it.)

If you receive an offer in one round and accept it, and then receive an offer in a later round, you can choose either to:

• keep your previous offer and not accept your new offer, or
• accept your new offer and withdraw from the course you've already accepted.

It's important to withdraw officially from the course you no longer want to pursue. Contact the admissions office of the relevant university. This will ensure you don't incur any unnecessary HECS debt or tuition fees.

Changing preferences after you receive an offer

Conditional SRS offers

If you receive a conditional offer, you still need to meet additional criteria before the institution will make you an unconditional offer in December Round 2 (on 23 December) or January Round 1 (9 January). The institution will tell you what these are in the conditional offer email you received on 8 November.

You might receive more than one conditional offer on 8 November, but only one of them can become an unconditional offer in December Round 2. In this offer round, like in all rounds, you’ll receive an offer to the course that is highest in your list of preferences and for which you are eligible and competitive enough. So make sure you have the course you most want to study at the top of your list of preferences, even if you haven't received a conditional offer to it.
