Schools Recommendation Schemes (SRS) are one way institutions make early offers of undergraduate admission to Year 12 students, using criteria other than (or in addition to) the ATAR.

To apply for SRS you must be a Year 12 applicant who is attempting one of the following:

  • an Australian Year 12 qualification in 2024
  • an International Baccalaureate in Australia in 2024.

You must also be:

  • a UAC applicant for undergraduate admission in 2025
  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or holder of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa.

Steps to completing your SRS application

Before you can apply for SRS, you need to apply for undergraduate admission through UAC. While there is a processing fee when you apply for undergraduate admission, there is no additional fee to apply for SRS.

  1. Follow the link to the SRS application from the undergraduate application.
  2. NSW HSC and ACT BSSS students: Details of your Year 11 studies should be displayed. Check that they are correct. If they're not correct, submit your SRS application and then contact UAC.
All other applicants (including all IB students): Enter the details of your Year 11 studies. After you submit your SRS application, upload a PDF of your Year 11 report to the qualifications section of your undergraduate application. You must upload your school report in order to have your studies assessed and considered by institutions as part of your SRS application. Uploaded documents cannot be edited or deleted but can be replaced up to three times.
  3. Accept the declaration.
  4. Download your confirmation of application.

You can only submit one SRS application.

Nominating your course preferences

You don’t need to nominate any courses in your SRS application because it is automatically linked to your course preferences in your UAC application for undergraduate admission.

Duration: 2.05 minutes

When you log back in to your undergraduate application, you'll see a notification confirming that you've applied for SRS. You cannot log in to your SRS application again.

NSW HSC and ACT BSSS students

For most applicants, there is nothing more to do. UAC will contact your school principal and ask them to submit a rating of your aptitudes.

If, when you applied for SRS:

  • the details of your Year 11 studies were incorrect, contact UAC
  • a notification was displayed informing you that your school was not yet participating in SRS, ask your principal to email srs@uac.edu.au to register.

Note that your Year 11 studies will not be displayed in the qualifications section of your undergraduate application.

All other applicants (including all IB students)

You will be prompted to upload a PDF of your Year 11 school report to the qualifications section of your undergraduate application.

Do not post or deliver your Year 11 report to UAC.

UAC will contact your school principal and ask them to submit a rating of your aptitudes.

Withdrawing an application

You can withdraw your SRS application by emailing the Access Unit: equity@uac.edu.au

NSW HSC and ACT BSSS students: You do not need to upload any documents to support your SRS application.

All other applicants (including IB students): You need to upload your Year 11 school report. Your Year 11 grades will then be assessed.

Report format

To ensure SRS applicants are assessed consistently, UAC requires your Year 11 grades to be reported using one of the following 5-point scales:

5

A

A+, A–

80 to 100%

4

B

B+, B–

70 to 79%

3

C

C+, C–

60 to 69%

2

D

D+, D–

50 to 59%

1

E

E+, E–

0 to 49%

Note: A grading scale of 1 to 7 is accepted for IB students only.

If the format your school uses for reporting Year 11 grades is not on a 5-point scale, as shown in the examples above, you and your school should complete the SRS Year 11 report form in order to convert your grades to a 5-point scale.

Once complete, upload the form to your UAC application instead of your original Year 11 report.

Document specifications

Each document must be a PDF file smaller than 5MB.

If your document is not a PDF, you can convert it using either:

  • UAC’s document conversion service – attach the document file to an email addressed to conv2pdf@uac.edu.au. For each attached file you’ll receive an email back within a few minutes containing a converted PDF, or
  • one of the many document conversion packages available on the web.

Important note for Mac users: If you're using an Apple computer with an OSX version less than 10.8, do not use its built-in PDF software to prepare PDF documents. Documents created or saved using this software and uploaded will be not viewable.

Instructions for uploading your document

  1. Log in to your UAC undergraduate application.
  2. Select the Qualifications tab.
  3. Locate your Year 11 qualification and click the Upload icon.

When you complete your UAC application, make sure you provide a current, personal email address so that UAC can contact you about your application. Do not use a school email address, as this will expire when you finish Year 12.

Some email accounts might send emails from UAC to your junk folder. Add the domain uac.edu.au to your list of safe email contacts to avoid this. It’s your responsibility to check your emails regularly (including in your junk folder) for any messages from UAC.

When UAC receives your SRS application, your school principal will be emailed a link to access your details. They will then advise their nominated staff member to rate you according to your aptitude in different areas.

While UAC invites all secondary schools in Australia with SRS applicants to submit ratings, participation is optional. UAC cannot guarantee that your school will provide ratings for your application.
